Michael J. Silvestro is the Director of the National Defense Committee’s Military Voting Rights Program, where his focus is to ensure that all military members are able to exercise their right to vote and have that vote counted. Mr. Silvestro’s personal experiences managing the operations of nine military post offices, serving as his unit’s overseas Military Voting Assistance Officer, and multiple years of exposure to the legislative process provide him with a truly unique perspective of the issue.

Before this, he was the manager of government relations for Accenture’s U.S. defense group.
Mr. Silvestro previously worked as the Counsel and Military Advisor for Representative Jim Saxton while the Congressman served on the House Armed Services Committee as the Chairman of the Terrorism and Unconventional Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee and as the Ranking Member of the Air and Land Forces Subcommittee. As the Congressman’s primary advisor on Defense and Veterans issues, he worked closely with House Armed Services Committee staff to develop national defense policy. Prior to joining the Congressman’s staff, Mr. Silvestro worked at the government relations firm Cassidy & Associates, where he represented a wide range of clients on defense appropriations and federal contracting issues.
