Chairman’s Corner

May 2009

Dear Patriot:

We hit “A Home Run” this month when NDC’s Executive Director, Bob Carey, testified before the U. S. Senate on the subject of Military Voting Rights. We’ll make sure that the URL is included in this month’s NDC Newsletter so that any of you who wish can punch it up and hear and see exactly what Bob had to say and the very VERY POSITIVE RECEPTION received from Chairman Schumer and Ranking Minority Chambliss. A VERY WELL DONE to Bob Carey. “Ya Done Us Proud”.

We’re also highlighting a new DOD program in this month’s newsletter, thanks to the good work of Darren Littell in researching this very positive program. DOD is now seeking to enlist in the U. S. Armed Forces LEGAL IMMIGRANTS to the USA that possess special language and technical skills in need by the U. S. military. National Defense Committee STRONGLY SUPPORTS this new program because it puts a positive focus on “Legal Immigrants” and then provides an accelerated citizenship route for those who join the U. S. Armed Forces and put their names on the line to give their life if need be in defense of the USA. Surely these are exactly the kind of new American Citizens that we want in our country—– those who show us by their actions as Legal Immigrants that they respect and obey the laws of our nation AND who also volunteer to put their lives on the line for our country. I have asked Darren and his colleague, David Bice, to arrange for meetings with DOD this summer to determine how NDC can further support and publicize these truly positive and logical programs. This is one DOD fire that NDC wants to pour gasoline upon!!!

This month’s Guest Editor is Mr. William Skipper, Founder & President of American Business Development Group. Bill Skipper served his country as a career commissioned officer on active duty in the National Guard and upon retirement, became the Director of Legislation for the National Guard Association. After 3 years at NGAUS, Bill formed ABDG and today it is one of THE MOST SUCCESSFUL companies of it’s type in the defense support arena. We welcome Mr. Skipper’s article in this month’s NDC Newsletter.

Time to sign off for this month. As you can see by the above, we have much to do and much that we are working on. As you read this, please know that we welcome all veterans who would like to be involved with or interested in working on ANY of our NDC Programs. Unlike almost ALL other organizations, NDC lists our named points-of-contact and their e-mail address under each of our programs for just this very purpose. It has always bothered us that other organizations say they are there to serve their membership, but then do not indicate who the member can contact on individual issues of interest. Too much of a 21st Century attitude of “don’t bother me, I’m busy” rather than reaching out the hand of friendship and welcoming all who wish to participate. And that, in my opinion, is one of the reasons why NDC is growing in numbers and succeeding in an era where almost ALL other veterans and military associations are losing members at a freefall rate. We ARE making a difference and we ARE having an impact. Let’s keep it up.

With all good wishes, Yours For America,

Rear Admiral [Ret.] James J. Carey, Founder & Chairman
